Hulett hooks biggest fish to date

Hulett FishVisiting her Browning Creek property the weekend of MSU Homecoming, Karen Hulett of Jackson, MS, caught a bass weighing in at five pounds, eleven ounces, and measuring 22 inches length. It is the largest fish caught since the lake was stocked. Karen and husband Bill are well into the construction of a boat house to precede their home.

As a service to residents who would like to join the walking group or publicize other activities (bridge to bunko) or services (landscaping to pet sitting), Browning Creek is beginning its own web-based community page for homeowners.

Winter’s freezing weather and rains haven’t dampened enthusiasm about Browning Creek. At least 10 lake estate homes, ranging from 2,100 to over 5,000 square feet, are under construction. Lake residents have welcomed a number of new neighbors who have completed their building.

A great place to build muscles and friendships

WalkersLiz, a runner who has competed in the Boston Marathon, finds the walk a great way to stay in shape and make new friends. “We welcome anyone to join us,” she says, noting that the beauty of sunrise on the lake makes the trek exhilarating and the hills make it good exercise. “We see deer and all kinds of little animals. It’s safe and secure, and it’s convenient. You can peel off a jacket and it will be where you left it when you return. If you want to add miles, you have a built-in water stop - your own house.”More...

It was a long run from Starkville that first brought Liz to Browning Creek several years ago when the lake was under construction. “I happened up on this huge dam and, looking out over the lake, thought it was the most beautiful site I had ever seen, even though there was no water in it. I watched the progress because we ran out there every week. Then, I found myself driving out there.” The Watkins built a Southern Living design home and have enjoyed living at Browning Creek since 1998.
